Magpie is proud to be a Sacramento area Restaurant Partner with Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch. The Monterey aquarium has created an amazing tool for understanding how seafood choices matter for the ocean and the planet.

We have a lot of guests ask about our fish choices. Lots of people are concerned that we use farmed salmon because for years we were told that all farm raised salmon was bad for the oceans.

This is no longer the case. More advanced methods of farming along with declining wild fish stocks have changes the Monterey Aquarium rankings. Magpie uses farm raised king salmon because it has a coveted “Best Choice” rating from Monterey Aquariums.

Most important is the flavor. The Oraking salmon that we use is delicious.
